(More customer reviews)I had waited for years and searched low an high for a Snow White Cottage that would make a perfect toy for my little one. Turned that there is plenty of the sclulptural ones that are good for display only or the lamp-like ones that serve entirely different purpose and then there were little Polly Pocket ones that are simply so tinny.. some 5 or 7" wide and 3 or so inches high that do not give a child "room to imagine".
When we've ordered this cottag,e I did not know exactly what to expect size-wise but I was hoping for a good size toy. It arrived in a beautiful Disney box with nice pictures featuring it's beauty with clear plastic window in front revealing it's beautiful form. It was just perfect. Very big yet not too big, just perfect proportions and perfect size. It fits perfectly Babrie-sized Disney Princess or a Barbie doll, the 12" will fit in it no problem. There is plenty of room for the little guys to roam around free, our set of dwarfs is the one that was designed to go with this cottage and was sold separately so we got it, we actually got two of them "just in case" but it is very well built set so the second set is kept for later if the little one loose some parts of the outfits but I do not fear anymore that it will break because it is just such a high quality set and so strong.
The cottage is built that way that can be open for play like many dollhouses out there, or closed for storage. When it is opened it looks somwhat like on the picture featured here. It can be opened all the way or just like in the picture, it is up to the child how much to open the three parts. When completly opened it can be opened to form almost a straight line when the wings are opened all the way, providing lots of room to play. Then each of the side wings or one if a child chooses so, can be brought half way and that gives even more options to change the look of the entire form.
This cottage is just fabulous when comes to inspiring a kid to imagine. It gives total feel of the movie. Even without the dolls it is great but with the dolls is just fantastic. Just like in the movie there is a fireplace, that animals helped Snow White to dust and clean around it, there is a big pot to cook soup in hanging by the fireplace, it can be removed and put anywhere.. There are pictures to adorn the dollhouse, there is a clock just like in the story, pendulum makes the bird pop out, so cute... there is a pump, that was just over the top, it pumps real water. I could not believe it, we added water to the base as per instructions and when my little one started pumping the handle the water actually went through the spout and back down to the base, it allows a child to was tinny dishes just like in the movie were piling everywhere... so super cute.
There is this famous scene when the Dwarfs are dancing with Snow White while Grumpy plays the organ, the organ that comes with this set also makes sounds.
I can not even name all things that come with the cottage, little sealed bags are filled with accessories. They came beautifully framed in the facotry plastic farme and have to be popped out by a child or an adult.. little plates, knives, forks, pots.. and it provides for extra excitement as they became your own. I think there was well over 80 different accessories.
The large pantry cabinet will fit all the dishes and silverware if not used on the table, the table is dreamy, just like in the movie, comes with matching chairs that are perfect fit for the dwarfs. That is why the dwarf set that was designed to be add on to this cottage is so perfect, it is posable so it can be positioned to sit at the table, by the fire place and wherever a child only wants it to be.
It even comes with flower vase and flowers. How perfect.
We consider ourselves so lucky to have this set because prices went so much up. It was a very limited edition toy, only few ever sold and so it is so hard to find it even used, let alone new. No wonder it is so expensive. For us it is good news, it turned to be an amazing invstment so we are overjoyed. Alhtough we do not plan to let it go and we want to keep it in the family, it is good to know that it has gained in value so much.
It is incredible toy and very hard to come by, and since they only released few then it will be only more difficult. Disney only made few of them to release at the movie anniversary and since they are in the habit of releasing toys only once then there is no chance that this cottage will be offered again.
The seven dwarfs set and other matching sets from this series are also harder and harder to come by. I saw the Seven Dwarfs set,from this collection sold for hundred Dollars, but even that was a while ago, the Snow White Princess is very hard to find as well, there were also other sets like a matching Prince with gorgeous white horse but that one I believe is the harderst to find of them all, oh that and maybe the set of Snow white and set of dresses.
The good thing about this collection was that Snow White Cottage Playset was sold separately and all othe sets separately so parents could pick and choose what they wanted. This cottage can be used with any Snow White doll or Dwarfs, of course no other set looks as perfect as those that were designed to go with it but still, they do work just as well. The snow white set that was meant to go with this cottage is probably the only set I know of that is fully posable and not only that, the little cute pants and shirts and shoes are totally removable. The little guys looks so funny when their outfits are off, kids do love to play dress ups and change their outfits no end so this is added bonus to the set.
We love this toy because it provides endless fun for our little one and her friends snd cousins, we got so many complements on this toy and just as many offers to buy it from us for really incredible amount of $$$. It is very very well built, the plastic is sturdy and strong and it folds and unfolds easily.
We proudly kept it on display shelf when not in use and it looks just perfect. It brings such a cozy happy feeling. Perfect perfect toy.
